Thanks to Our Partners!
Thank you to our partners who help us achieve amazing success with our students, parents and families. Without the financial and volunteer support that you as our partners provide, we would not be able to continue to provide new delivery models, duplicate best practices, and accelerate effective programming. We appreciate those of you who have invested towards our district’s long-term success.
3M Foundation
3M
has been a long-time partner of AISD. For over 20 years, 3M has partnered with Wooten Elementary by directing
grants to nonprofits serving the Wooten community, providing employee mentors
and conducting clothing drives for the children.
For the District, 3M has been a vital partner in providing important
matching funds for projects such as the Federal GEAR-UP grant. Along with this
3M has elevated the work of our classrooms by providing Ingenuity grants. In
the 2010-11 year, 22 AISD teachers won $80,442 in Ingenuity grants for 19
projects. 3M also supports AISD through technology donations, such as the 248
Shoot n’ Share Camcorder Projectors in 2011 and the 571 projectors for laptop
computers for teachers to use in their classrooms. Another important
contribution from 3M was in the form of highly-technical equipment to support
our Project Lead the Way program, allowing students at AISD to learn
engineering and prepare them for rigorous work in college.
A+ Federal Credit Union
The A+ Education Foundation was established and developed by A+
Federal Credit Union in 2005 to provide grants to full-time educators in grades
Pre-K through 12 to help them in reaching their educational goals. For
the 2011 grant cycle, 82 Austin area educators were awarded over
$76,000.00. Twelve of those grant recipients are from Austin ISD and were
recognized at the Austin ISD November board meeting.
While A+ Federal Credit Union has grown to be one of the largest
credit unions in the Austin area with 15 locations, $884 million in assets and
94,000 members, A+ has continued its outreach in the education community. In AISD they have participated and supported
numerous financial education programs at over 20 campuses and participate on
three campus advisory councils. At 8
elementary schools, children learn about money and savings through Green Apple
programs taught by credit union staff and sponsored by A+. Additionally they have supported AISD through
speakers and sponsoring signage at AISD stadiums
Applied Materials
In 2001, Applied Materials launched
its Education Initiative, which allocates resources and strategic investments
towards improving the academic performance of students in underserved
communities. Since the inception of the program Applied has helped close the
scholastic achievement gap of thousands of at-risk students. To address this
problem at a local level in Austin, Applied and the Applied Materials
Foundation invest heavily in education – from pre-school through high school
graduation. Through long-term collaborative partnerships and dedicated financial
support, Applied is helping to remove barriers and allow students to achieve
success in school and life.
Buena Vista Foundation
The Buena Vista Foundation has granted AISD support for the
implementation of the Social Emotional Learning initiative (SEL). This
partnership will allow AISD to develop a long-term plan to begin implementation
of AISD’s framework for school improvement through a safe, caring learning
environment in six core areas:
Self-awareness; Self-management; Social Awareness; Relationship Skills;
and Responsible Decision-making. AISD’s SEL programming will complement
academic learning strategies through development of positive peer relationships,
caring and empathy, and social engagement.
