NRPA Grant Available for Community Gardens

The National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA) and the Darden Restaurants Foundation have partnered to make grants available for community gardens that benefit low-income families. Grants will range from $2,500 to $7,500 and may be used to build or expand community gardens that result in the donation of fresh produce. Literacy grant open to Texas public school libraries

AUSTIN – The Association of Texas Professional Educators (ATPE) Foundation will award seven literacy grants of $1,500 to Texas public schools during the 2012-13 school year, up from five grants awarded the previous school year. The foundation has also increased the amount of the literacy grant from $1,000 to $1,500.

The Association of Texas Professional Educators (ATPE) Foundation will award seven literacy grants of $1,500 to Texas public schools during the 2012-13 school year. Grant funds can be used to update school library literacy materials and resources including books, e-books, audio books, newspaper/magazine subscriptions, computer software and online databases. The ATPE Foundation was established by the Association of Texas Professional Educators (ATPE), the state’s leading educators’ association and the largest independent association for public school educators in the nation.

Grants for pre-K-8 school projects that create global classrooms where children—and families—can safely connect, exchange ideas and learn together. 

Sharing the Dream, a grant program of The National Association of Elementary School Principals (NAESP) and MetLife Foundation, encourages principals to “go global” by providing $5,000 grants for innovative projects that engage parents and communities, and create globally oriented schools that foster students’ intercultural understanding and preparation as world citizens.

Now is the time for interested elementary and middle school principals to begin thinking about and planning projects they can submit for funding in 2013-2014. Proposals will be accepted in late-May 2013.

Proposed projects must:

·        Include a global-engagement component

• Encourage parents to become meaningfully involved in schools and their children's learning

 Twenty-five grants are awarded annually in the fall to K-8 schools in the U.S. and its territories.

All about the Fruits and Veggies Grant Program

APPLICATION DEADLINE: 2/18/13.

$ AVAILABLE: The All About the Fruits and Veggies grant program will provide youth garden initiatives with $500 in gardening supplies, curriculum, soil amendments, and plants to help create engaging nutrition and gardening experiences.

ELIGIBILITY: The program is open to schools, community organizations, and nonprofit gardening programs with at least 15 children between the ages of 3 and 18. Schools must be located within a 50-mile radius of a Jamba Juice store.

PURPOSE: In celebration of the National Gardening Association's fortieth anniversary, Jamba Juice has announced that it will award grants to forty youth and school garden programs in the United States.
